Join in Support of the Violence Against Women Act
No one is for violence against women, right? All 11 EMILY’s List’s women in the Senate – Senators Boxer, Cantwell, Feinstein, Gillibrand, Hagan, Klobuchar, McCaskill, Mikulski, Murray, Shaheen, and Stabenow – cosponsored the reauthorization of VAWA when it was in the Senate. But the GOP is playing political games that put women at risk, let’s show our women in Congress that we are standing with them as they fight for VAWA!
Stand with EMILY’s List and let our women know that you have their backs!
The EMILY’s List women in Congress are standing up and fighting for the Violence Against Women Act. Senators Boxer, Cantwell, Feinstein, Gillibrand, Hagan, Klobuchar, McCaskill, Mikulski, Murray, Shaheen, and Stabenow know what’s at stake and are standing up to the attacks on women.
1 in 4 women has been a victim of severe physical violence by a partner. Nearly 1 in 5 has been raped. And on average, 24 people are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking every minute.
VAWA has helped more victims report domestic violence to the police and decreased non-fatal intimate partner violence by 53%. Because of VAWA, more rape crisis centers and recovery resources are available to victims following an attack. So imagine those statistics without VAWA. But the GOP is holding the bill hostage.
That’s why I’m standing with the EMILY’s List women in Congress who are fighting for the Violence Against Women Act.
