Stop the Cancellation of the Bronte Garden Plot Rentals

For over thirty years Bronte Provincial Park has offered garden plots for rent to local residents. These gardeners have formed a unique community with people from diverse backgrounds growing their own vegetables free from commercial pesticides.

It was announced in May that the park would be closing down this worthwhile program in 2020. Citing operational and administrative costs as well as ecological integrity, the park has made this decision without consultation.

The gardeners have offered to relieve the park of the administrative and operational duties by using volunteers and a committee that would oversee the administrative duties as well as police the gardeners to ensure non-invasive plants are used. (It should be noted that there are no agricultural plants listed as invasive).

Please join us in asking the park and the governing Minister of Natural Resources and the Ontario Parks Board of Directors to keep this worthwhile program going.
