Kirstie Keatings started this petition to John swinney and

Christianity has an unfair bias in our children's schools. In a country named "Post-Christian", it's time to move past the forced religious assemblies our children have no power to opt out of.

Where are our Jewish assemblies? Jewish children don't want to hear about Christ. Where are our Muslim assemblies, or Buddhist assemblies, our Pagan assemblies?

Until we show equal representation of all religions in an effort to bridge the divisive nature of misunderstanding, we're simply breeding another generation of children who fall into Christianity without understanding other religions and will therefore hate them. Alternatively, it will give us more children who hate religion in general - particularly Christianity, which our school system says they MUST endure assemblies about, or sit in a room by themselves.

Surely a "Post-Christian" society should fight for equality in all its forms. We should be fighting the idea that other religions are about hate, and let people who practice these faiths tell the children about it. Perhaps an inter-faith alliance should be formed.

Whatever is done, we must end the favouritism towards Christianity - at this point, it is little more than compulsory indoctrination. This law is 70 years old - it does not apply to a modern Scotland.
