Please Help Save Our Village Car Park From Development

Please take a few minutes and help us by signing this petition to keep our community safer.

Our reasons why are:

Our village of Invergowrie, already suffering from unacceptable traffic congestion, is now due to face further congestion as a result of the proposed removal of the car park off Main Street, entered to the side of 146-156 Main Street.

Perth & Kinross Council (PKC) are proposing to develop housing units on the car park and adjacent community green space, to the rear of 132-156 Main Street, without the need for planning approval or wider public consultation.

The car park was originally created, and used for the last 46 years, as parking for the nearby residential properties. More recently, due to rising levels of daytime vehicle users, the car park has provided an important role to help relieve congestion along Main Street to the existing businesses.  The nearby, recently completed primary school  was created with no car parking provision other than a parent drop-off zone.

Main Street now has 2 churches, a pub, a village hall and 9 other businesses (ranging from a take-away to a dentists surgery), and these could face a reduction in visitors and potentially affect their livelihoods if the car park is lost.

PKC have already introduced parking restrictions on Main Street, which limit user parking times, thus already acknowledging the issue of traffic congestion in the village.

The removal of the car park is going to displace up to 20 residents cars further afield. Daytime visitors unable to find a space on Main Street, or visiting the school, will no longer be able to utilise this car park area.

The petition video shows images highlighting the car park & streets already being at capacity. It is our belief if this car park is removed it will have a significant & detrimental effect to the village businesses & residents a like.
