Keep free instrumental tuition in Scottish schools
0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!
Recently a decision was made to cut the free additional tuition for those that play instruments in all below categories:
As a student who uses this tuition and know many others that use it within my school and in other neighbouring schools it has aided in providing additional support for exams. If you are a student who does not take music as a subject it can lead to an additional free standing unit without needing to pay.
Many people do not seek this tuition just for its learning purposes but playing an instrument has been proven to have benefits on the brain and can further social skills. Please see the following short video produced by TED-Ed which provides a more indepth yet easy to understand description on the benefits of learning an instrument. http://youtu.be/R0JKCYZ8hng
Public appeal will be stopped on the 12/13th of November and it will then be discussed behind closed doors. The tutors will then have to wait until the 18th of December, one week before Christmas, if they will still have a job.
I personally request as a student who uses this tuition, on behalf of those that use it now, those that may use it in future generations and the tutors who seek to educate young musicians and use this as their source of income for you to sign this petition and share it with everyone you know so the future musicians of Scotland can advance further with this aid.
Thank you for reading.
Despite it now being the date where public appeal stops don’t be put off as we still have the power to change this decision if we get enough signatures.
Again, Thank you for reading
