CAN THE NVRHS BOARD OF EDUCATION BE TRUSTED? IT’S NOT JUST RDT ANYMORE!
Oct 21, 2013 — In the last week there have been some very troubling developments regarding the NVRHS BOE, which extend well beyond the current RDT controversy.
At the last Board meeting on October 14, President John Schettino acknowledged that he had sought to have the extended policy committee vote to approve a draft policy (which they had worked on for only 10 days) and that he had intended to present the draft to the Board that night.
Mr. Schettino’s statement demonstrates his disregard for the motion by board member John Paasalaqua, passed on September 23, to “table review of any RDT policy, not to be considered by the full board until after its reorganization in January.” When board attorney Yaacov Brisman sought to reframe the motion to prevent only a board vote, Mr. Passalaqua clearly corrected him, stating that the motion was to not even read the policy to the full board before January.
