I dislike the way Leslie Radford was chosen and the way she has treated staff. Fields was doing an excellent job, and hiring a less qualified white person is exactly the wrong move.

KPFK, a station I have loved and supported for over 25 years, is imploding under Leslie Radford.

I am signing because I disagree with the decisions made my Radford.

This GM seems only interested in a small subset of the So Calif listening audience. In addition, she has brought in staff and volunteers who are intimidating long time supporters. She does not have the contacts with donors or grant makers who are sorely needed to support the organization. Judging from her previous statements, she has virtually no experience in either radio broadcasting management or even office management -- of any kind. She was a political ally of the outgoing interim ED and would never, under any professional GM search process, have been selected. This is a classic case of the wrong person in the wrong job.

I was impressed with the direction under Fields and feel we were lucky to have him. His energy is what KPFK needs at this time.

Whomever this person is, is obviously NOT working in the best interests of the station and its listeners. WHO made this very non-transparent decision? Austerity will KILL this station. As it is, whenever I tune in of late, all I get is some very bland and irrelevant music! Where the hell is all of the programming? These seems to have happened in the last several weeks. What is happening? The right has been after this station since Bob Dole was quoted as saying, on air, that he wanted KPFK to be destroyed. The powers that be are intimidated by this station speaking truth to power and have been slowly destabilizing it since the Dole comment. There has been a slow and steading decent since then. We need to save this station! Its the only voice of freedom we have left!

I have been a devoted listener and subscriber to KPFK for 25 years, and I am horrified to see this invaluable institution destroyed from within by fraud, mismanagement, and greed.

What the current management has been doing to KPFK's programming is reprehensible. The shining lights of information and knowledge at the station (Ian Masters, Margret Prescod Democracy Now) are being drowned out in favor of the New Age-y gibberish that plays ad nasueum all day. Ian Masters' show should be re-broadcast at different times of the day so listeners have a chance to hear his intelligent interviews and analysis of current issues.

This new hiring hardly seems to have been carried out in a democratic way.
The new GM had a strange idea of putting on a whole weekend of music while an "important" fundraiser was going on. Also, Ian Masters, a favorite of listeners with his intelligent programming was taken off the air for a number of days as some sort of punishment.
Things are truly going very wrong for a station I was so proud to support since 1979. Now, I don't know if I will continue to do so.

I was beginning to feel like things were turning around and since Leslie Radford has taken over I have seen a significant decline in the quality what is being offered. The non-stop fund drives asking us to fund the removal of the stations most important and talented radio personalities is absurd! I am appalled that a small group of individuals can hijack our news source and drive it into the ground with the money we donate.
