We the collective members of group 18 of the fall 2017 first section of PSC 105: Introduction to American Government, adopt the following resolution, which identifies the underlying values and concerns that have caused tensions surrounding immigration policy in the United States. We argue that there are underlying issues involving racial tension due to the lack of education involving citizenship and the process to get it. The lack of cooperation in Congress is a huge factor in the issues involving immigration policy. We believe that these issues need to be directly addressed.
We the collective member of group 18 of fall 2017 second section of PSC 105: Introduction to American Government, adopt the following resolution, which identifies the specific policy or policies that should be adopted in order to improve immigration policy in the United States and in Michigan - especially with regard to the way undocumented immigrants are deported. Criminals with substantial offenses will be prioritized. When looking to deport undocumented immigrants, we should take race and ethnicity out of the process. We should change the test for citizenship and make it more practical. We also will push for civility in regards to the handling of the families facing deportation and other issues facing immigration. We believe that the DREAM Act should be revisited.
We the collective group 18 of fall 2017 third section of PSC 105: Introduction of American Government, adopt the following resolution to promote, educate and change policies on immigration. We plan to do this by creating posters, flyers, social media, websites, and an online petition. We are doing all of this in hope to influence local legislatures.
