Cashcards for vulnerable adults

This petition had 37 supporters

Vulnerable adult banking for the elderly and younger vulnerable adults, to help preventing identity theft and phone scamming, while retaining independence.

Please  create and issue bank cards that can be used in store and at atm for vulnerable adults, but cannot be used to disclose the owners bank details,

At present cashcards still have the owners banking details  and can be used to set up direct debits/standing orders, vulnerable adults can be coerced to give the account number, sort code and account holder name over the phone. My mother ( 93 is one such adult, she likes to shop  but despite many notices posted around the house ,and warnings, is still easily coerced over the phone and at the door.)

There is no need for the account details to be on the card itself and theft also means the bank details are given away.

A Photo card with the chip to be used with pin is enough, allows independence but removes vulnerability.
