Make cigarette filters recyclable

Cigarette butts are the largest cause of litter worldwide. It can take from 18 months to 10 years for them to degrade, because they are often made out of cellulose acetate. The butts of cigarettes contain many toxins, for example tar, which can leak into the surrounding areas and waterways, and can harm living organisms that come into contact with them. There are roughly 1 billion smokers in the world today, so imagine the damage that each cigarette butt thrown on the floor, or sent to landfill will have on the environment. Together we can contact the company Republic Technologies, who own zigzag and produce Swan filters, to try and come to a resolution of this situation.
