Local 440 apprentices started this petition to John Kurek

Forced to sign a policy stating our vaccination status. There are new policies being implemented that favor vaccinated individuals. These include:  more excused absences, choice to wear a mask or not, and shorter quarantine requirements.  Now they’re talking about mandating the vaccine.  Some of these apprentices have 2, 3, or even 4 years with perfect attendance.  We have completed all requirements asked of us, while making sacrifices with our families.  We have been on the front lines working in hospitals and other healthcare facilities since the start of the pandemic.  When the first lockdown was issued, I personally was in a local hospital installing equipment in the “COVID” designated rooms to verify they were negative pressure rooms.  This was before we knew this virus had a large survivability rate. Now, after the majority of the state has returned to normal, we are being put in a position to comply, or receive disciplinary action.  Personal health should be the individuals right, and should NOT be anyone else’s business.  This policy should be terminated completely.  John Kurek is the training director for the local 440.  He is the one that introduced the policy to the apprentices.  Hopefully, he will see that the vast majority of apprentices and journey workers are not in favor of this policy.
