I am a single, struggling mom of 4 children. I work full time as an LPN, and I attend school full time for my criminal justice degree. I have been a loyal customer to VanDevere for many years and have purchased several vehicles from them as well as several of my family members and Friends whom I referred to VanDevere for their vehicle needs. While searching VanDevere website I came across several ads for new Vehicles advertised for a low price. There were a total of 7 New 2017 vehicles posted for sale from $2000 to $5000. I proceeded to talk with their online chat to verify the price and the representative on the online chat confirm the price and also sent my request to verify price to the dealership the next day I received a response for my request from Deveney Watson, one of VanDevere's customer service agents who has been there for years, who confirmed the price was correct with the following statement "Hi Samantha, we wanted to inform you that the price on the 2017 Buick Enclave has dropped to $3,959.00. Please call me to schedule your test drive appointment, with with the ad included. I responded to her email with I wanted to come and purchase the vehicle with cash and another email that stated I wanted to schedule to come in that upcoming Saturday to purchase a vehicle. After not hearing back from them I decided to get in contact with a manager, Jeff, whom we met with, and explained the situation that we came across. He checked into it and even Jeff and Vandevere's IT tech confirmed that their disclaimers were not posted on the website, that he was looking for and also stated that this has happened on more than one occasion and he apologized and then referred us to Jerry VanDevere, President of Vandevere. We called the next day and Jerry was out of the office so we left several voicemail's, called the day after that again left several voicemail's and finally on the third day we spoke with Jerry who stated that there was no way he would sell us the vehicle for the price advertised, we stated that VanDevere was not following their core values of Faith- by giving back, Attitude-Be positive, Motivated-Fulfilling their purpose in faith, family and career, ***Integrity- Doing the right thing regardless of the sacrifice or cost,****** Love- caring about the customer as much as you do yourself or the Ohio Revised Code 109:4-3-16 Advertisement and sale of motor vehicles.(B) It shall be a deceptive and unfair act or practice for a dealer, manufacturer, advertising association, or advertising group, in connection with the advertisement or sale of a motor vehicle, to: (5) Advertise any motor vehicle for sale at a specific price or on specific terms and subsequently fail to show and make available for sale said vehicle as advertised; (D) For purposes of this rule, and Chapter 1345. of the Revised Code, the following shall apply: (3) The information required by paragraph (B) of rule 109:4-3-07 of the Administrative Code may be set forth on the face of a contract for sale of a motor vehicle. Jerry stated he understood and cut us off very abruptly with he was not selling the car for the amount advertised and then got off the phone.
