John Howell MP: Take Urgent Action to Combat the Climate and Ecological Emergency
The Issue
#SupporttheCEEBill #CEEBill #COP26 #GreenerHenley
It has never been clearer that the world is facing an unprecedented climate and ecological emergency. We are proud that Henley Town Council declared a climate emergency in February 2020, and that so many groups across the Henley constituency are working hard with their councils and parishes to lower their carbon footprints. However, we cannot solve this problem solely on a local level: we need national action to bring about the change that is needed. We are calling on John Howell MP to support the CEE Bill, to protect us from the worst effects of the emergency.
We imagine a future where our community’s prosperity and wellbeing goes hand in hand with a thriving natural world, rich in biodiversity; a future where cleaner air and water and healthy local food can be enjoyed by all residents, both now and for generations to come.
The CEE Bill will:
- Ensure that the UK reduces greenhouse gas emissions in line with its legal obligations to limit global heating to 1.5°C.
- Account for our entire carbon footprint in calculating emissions.
- Protect nature and actively conserve ecosystems to reverse the decline in biodiversity.
- Empower ordinary people to have a real say on solutions in a citizens assembly.
John Howell MP, we ask you to take urgent action to avert a climate and ecological catastrophe. In your capacity as our elected representative in Parliament, please support the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill (CEE Bill). Please help to protect our futures, and the futures of our children.
