Toronto Community health care of the most vulnerable sector will be impacted immensely by the city layoffs of Toronto Public Health Nurses slated for Wednesday, July 8, 2020.  We need front-line Public Health Nurses more than ever.  We urge the City of Toronto to reverse its plan and instead keep our nurses providing the care people need, whether it be COVID related or providing support to vulnerable families.  Support for families struggling with mental illness, poverty, abuse, and parenting, are critical, especially now when these issues are prevalent and increasing due to the isolation resulting from COVID.  These nurses are our friends, neighbors, and families, and should not be laid off to save funding at the expense of Toronto families.  These nurses received only 4 days notice of lay off, while working full-time from home, as well as parenting and/or supporting elderly relatives.  It appears that only those nurses who had to request work accommodation to care for their own families, are those being placed on Emergency Leave.  Please support our community and nurses by signing this petition.
