We hold these Truths to be Self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We as Chicago Police, Firefighters, Paramedic's, Chicago School Teacher's along with all City Employees believe that the current residency requirements imposed by The City of Chicago severely limits the ability of all City employees these basic rights. 5ILCS315/(i) limits the ability of Police, Firefighters, and Paramedics to arbitrate residency, we feel this limitation is unconstitutional and doesn't uphold the common beliefs laid out in the Declaration of Independence. As American Citizens we have the right to reside in any community that allows us to persue Life, Liberty, and Happiness.
