The idea is just ridiculous. Admit that some one has just paid an agency a lot of money to come up with an idea and the idea is wrong. Birmingham city council you don't have carry out their suggestion. This is just another error you've made in wasting money. Put a stop it rather than waste more money on trying to say it is a good idea. Leave the wards as they are!
Because the present system of three Councillors allows citizens to express their views, and thus make a statement by means of the ballot box, on a more or less annual basis; thus they effectively have to work for their living and be accountable. The proposal and the associated spin does not provide a facility for citizens to annually express their views annually in the same and thus should discarded immediately and, if there are changes, these must reflect the present boundaries that in turn should be able to become accountable for all but minor matters.
This is completely unnecessary. The boundary changes will split communities, and the reduction in Councillors will leave citizens even less well represented. The number of proposed councillors is scarcely more than Manchester City Council; a city with roughly half the electorate!
I agree strongly with the points made, the proposed changes threaten community identity built up over decades and would impede rather than assist communication between residents, voluntary groups and B.C.C.
It was only by chance that I learned of the proposed changes. As far as I am aware I have had no official notification from the city council nor has my opinion been sought
I'm signing because I vehemently oppose this ludicrous proposal which is both a waste of time time/effort and a poor decision which will dramatically break down the neighbourhood/community identity people have with their respective areas. For Moseley village to not be in Moseley or Hall Green train station not to be in Hall Green is a joke!
Changing boundaries will be like burning the humans alive because people have worked their bollocks off to buy a property in areas in which you guys want to put in a different boundary/area. Why the change? Is there not enough animosity in the world that you want more? Don't do this change because change sometimes is not better!!
