Companies now days have found better ways to increase their efficiency, now relying more on machines, computers, and AI rather than manual labor and low skilled jobs. This is great as we can accomplish more and improve standards of living. The cost however is that the unemployment rate is increasing since learning high skilled jobs is costly and there is a lesser need to have as many people to work (by product of increased efficiency).

Since less people are needed to create the same amount of products and less people are financially able to be the among the smaller efficient workforce, in order to maintain social stability and prevent civil unrest, these efficient corporations must pay some tax in which the displaced population can survive and be kept busy. This money would be used to make school systems better equipped to creating a competent workforce as well as improving the quality of social services such as addiction treatment centers, and improving the public infrastructure such as subways and buses.
