Release inmates who are none dangerous to the public

Release inmates who are none dangerous to the public
Why this petition matters
I have a loved one inside of a delaware prison who has a weak immune system among other health difficulties which make the chances of serving this virus slim to none. They're not a hazard to the public and belong home with their loved ones in a safer environment where they can quarantine with less chance of catching covid-19. A lot of these prisoners have families to come home to, and the sentencing they were given is almost up anyway/ Inmates who are not dangerous to the public or have six months or less should be released due to the covid-19 virus. Those inmates have family and friends who are worried about the safety of loved ones in this scary time. If they're not dangerous inmates or have commited low level crimes they should be released to and sent home, to improve the slow of infection rates. DOC is not being honest about the amount of cases in the prisons or the efforts they are making to keep the spread down, and they are NOT providing the inmates with the proper supplies to stop/slow the spread of the virus. If the virus spreads throughout the prison without the proper health care and protective supplies more and more inmates will become infected causing more deaths and the loss of many loved ones. They're being denied the right to protect themselves and the others around them from the spread of this deadly virus. Some inmates are even being held past there release date for no actual reason at all. The DOC isn't concerned at all with inmate safety, and they should be held accountable and inmates who are not a great risk to the public should be sent home where they can practice social distancing correctly and effectively, and where they can use facial coverings and have the ability to get proper healthcare if need be. Could you imagine if every inmate in the state of delaware became infected because they were denied the right to wear a face covering or just simply be sent home because their time was almost up anyway? Inmates have already died due to the covid-19 virus as well as correctional officers. If they are serving a two year sentence and being let out 6 months early does it really hurt anyone or does the state just need the funding? If the state of delaware releases the low risk prisoners or the ones with six months or less they'll be providing more space between inmates and less people to spread the virus, which in turn would keep the death rate inside DOC prisons low and the positive cases at a lower rate. I fear that if something doesn't change within the prisons the death rate and confirmed case numbers will continue to rise for both the inmates and the correctional officers and other staff members inside the prisons.
