Why this petition matters

Started by Renée Richichi

Standardized testing is not only unnecessary stress in a high schoolers already strenuous schedule, but it's also an archaic fashion of testing students on what they've taken away from their years of schooling through a series of broad questions in English, Reading, Math and Sciences. Student's have spent their entire educational career working towards high GPAs, teacher recommendations, summer programs, internships, volunteer work, etc for their college applications. Not every student's brain is wired for standardized testing and it's a pointless way of measuring a student's eligibility for scholarship money and entrance into colleges. Personally, I have always had high grades and an above average GPA, but received low scores on standardized tests, no matter how many tutors, or online courses I take. To spend your entire educational career working towards perfect grades and a high GPA, only to be met with narrow-minded testing in order for colleges to predict your success at their school is demeaning and unjust to Louisiana students.
