The correctional system in Louisiana is unlike anything you ever seen. Our loved one who is incarcerated at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola is living in inhumane conditions and needs attention. The overall sanitation of the facility is inhabitable, but because these are detainees, they are treated like animals. This matter becomes more disturbing when that loved one is being detained for a crime he did not commit. The detainees have endured physical abuse, harsh treatment, been handcuffed for more than 24 hours at a time, spent days in the dungeon, gone without heat in the winter, without air in the summer, and denied visits from family for minor and insignificant reasons. Even though they are detainees, they still need to be treated the way humans should be treated. They are people too and they are still loved by someone on the outside. If word gets out, then my family can sleep a little better at night knowing our loved one’s rights are being respected. Please help my family bring light, attention, and awareness to this matter before it’s too late.
