karen diaz started this petition to John A. Ferguson Senior High School

Homecoming is an American high school tradition meant to be celebrated with your close friends, peers, and loved ones. This is an essential part of our high school experience and we, students of John A. Ferguson Senior High School, request that dates that attend another school are also welcome to join us in this experience.

The Ferguson administration has proved its lack of management and coordination throughout this entire process. No announcement was made when ticket sales were released, the waiver required for other students to attend the event was supposed to be on the SGA Linktree but it was nowhere to be found (it was on Band, but no one was notified. A SGA member did not even know where to find it), and no instructions were given to those from other schools wishing to attend the event.

The majority of the students wanted to enjoy homecoming with their dates/friend-dates. The official Ferguson Instagram stated that students from other schools may attend the event as a date. This, of course, buzzed excitement among students of not only John A. Ferguson, but other schools as well. Some students from other schools did not pay their school’s Homecoming ticket in order to attend the Ferguson Homecoming with their date. This especially jeopardizes the Class of 2022, as this is the last year they get to experience something like this and may even be their first due to the circumstances with Covid.

Fault does not lie with the student body; there has been an utter lack of organization you’d expect of children- in fact, it is the adults who have been the great mismanagers. Upon release of the tickets on OSP, no announcement was made and you failed to satisfy the promises made to the student body. That is not to say that these errors cannot be repaired; it must in fact be your first priority, if you care for the student body, to compensate for the void of a plan with which you have come up. A sharp reorganization with the students and their dates and friends in mind will prove you adaptable and compassionate. We thank you for your consideration and truly have hope that you will put forth your truest efforts to make it up to the students.
