Most students have never thought about or considered a career in welding and even those who have wouldn’t be helped to realize that dream in school. It should be the job of schools to help their students find their way in life by exposing them to many different career options. Mellringeskolan has unfortunately denied it’s students the option to explore welding during woodworking classes, despite the claims that it should include working with metal. This is unfortunate, letting students weld would increase the available projects during woodworking class and therefor increase the likelihood a student finds an enjoyable project. All students should get the chance to learn how to weld should they want to since it will give them a bigger pool of experiences to base their future studies/career path of. A MIG/MAG-welder would be the best option because it’s the safest and easiest to use out of all welders.

Knowing how to weld is useful both for hobby-projects and career opportunities. It will also provide a more school experience for many. Schools should therefor provide the option for students to learn welding. Investing in a MIG/MAG-welder would be investing in students’ lives and future careers.
