Too many microplastics are entering into our oceans. When plastic is dumped into the ocean the heat from the sun will degrade it and turn into many smaller pieces. From this, the smaller marine organisms can digest these microplastics and it will travel up the food chain.

If we're not careful it would have a serious problem on our health and the ecosystem. This leads to organ damage and possibly cancer. This is only one of the many symptoms we will experience because of microplastics.

Solutions

Some clothes use recycle plastic bags as their material but when they are inside a laundry machine many microplastics 1000+ escape through the water pipes and out into the ocean. We can all make a difference by buying a microplastic filter and putting it on the laundry. This just doesn't include clothes that get recycled but synthetic plastic polymer as well.

Try to use organic material for clothing instead of cloth, wool, cotton, leather, fur, silk, ramie, jute etc.

Recycling is very important as well so the plastic you use doesn't end up in the oceans instead it can be used again.
