The students of SPPS are thirsty for change... and juice. As of the 2017-18 school year, the district has severely restricted students' right to a variety of flavors, impinging on our freedoms of choice in the lunch line. For years now, the meager juice selection offered students has been restricted to two generic flavors: apple and orange. We deserve better. SPPS juice supplier Citrus Systems Inc. (https://www.citrussystems.com) offers a wide assortment of alternative juice blends; among them are pineapple, apple-cherry, caramel apple, fruit punch, orange juice fruit punch, etc... If SPPS nutrition services is locked in a contract where Citrus Systems Inc. provides the orange and apple flavors exclusively, we expect SPPS to renegotiate this contract ASAP to reflect the wants and desires of its consumers. If Citrus Systems Inc. is unwilling or unable to comply with our demands, we expect SPPS to find a new juice provider. We, as students, absolutely cannot stand by idly while this injustice is wrought upon our society's most precious asset: children. We are sick and tired of this mistreatment. Join us in telling SPPS Superintendent Gothard that enough is enough. WE WANT THE JUICE!
