Stop Deforestation in The Amazon and Save Indigenous People
Why this petition matters
Deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest is a serious issue, not only does it affect the wildlife, it also affects the indigenous people who live on the land.
Under the new government, deforestation has risen sharply, especially on protected Indigenous Lands. More than 100 Indigenous groups live in the Amazon, and all of these are under intense pressure from land grabbers, illegal loggers and ranchers.
Therefore, we demand:
- The Brazilian government to respect the UN Declaration of Indigenous People
- The Brazilian government to stop providing permits to logging companies
- Close Indigenous land from loggers and ranchers
"The environment is so fundamental to our continued existence that it must transcend politics and become a central value of all members of society" David Suzuki
