This arrest was political repression of peaceful protesters by law enforcement. There is no other supportable interpretation of what happened. Those protesters were out there before even knowing the election results, to march for community control of police, and to demand that ALL votes cast be counted in the election! How could the leadership at U of M not support that? And **especially** after the events at the US Capitol on Jan 6th, how can these charges be justified?? Hundreds more peaceful, nonviolent protesters were arrested on Nov. 4 for "public nuisance" with no provocation than have been arrested TO DATE in connection with the violent storming of the US Capitol. Ridiculous.
Joan Gabel, grow a backbone and some accountability and advocate for the rights of your students. Demand that the charges be dropped. #646DropTheCharges!!! Protect the right to protest!!!

I support students and staff who participated in the protest and call on leadership within the university to demonstrate how they claim they support brown and black students, BLM, and racial and social justice.

My friends were among the 646 arrestees. These arrests should not have happened. Peaceful protests do NOT warrant arrests, period.

Those Arrested were demanding "All Votes Be Counted". Their arrests were entirely unjustified. Protesting is NOT a crime! Drop the Charges!

This was absolutely ridiculous. Stand up for your students. Maybe you’re indifferent when it comes to your rights as a US citizen, but you’re obligated to care about theirs.
