Unpaid Salaries of Sanitation Workers - Bonded Labour @JNU Central Library.

Unpaid Salaries of Sanitation Workers - Bonded Labour @JNU Central Library.

To whomsoever it may still concern.
This is a petition initiated to express a collective vote of no confidence in the competency of the Library Admin & Management Staff of Central Library, JNU. The general upkeep and maintenance of the library premises are attaining new standards of degradation. The Librarian needs to get their priorities in order. Demanding Student ID at the gate seems to be more pressing concern than the unhygienic pathetic condition of dirty washrooms and unserviced water dispensers since over a year. The reading halls are accumulating garbage day by day and are in immediate need of basic floor sweeping and mopping. The Librarian only speaks of great initiatives like total sanitisation of the Library when they can't even maintain basic cleanliness.
In the light of the recent events, the sanitation workers are forced to protest in the scorching sun for weeks now, in demand of their unpaid salaries from many months now. No one seems concerned in delivering justice to this meagre wage workers in crucial times of pandemic when their services are quintessential. Is the library admin and JNU admin blind to their grievances. Isn't timely payment of salaries not of top concern any more. They seem to be least bothered to even call in an immediate enquiry into the lapse in the services and payments to the workers.
This petition seeks the following on a war footing.
1. Immediate payments of salaries with compound interest of 24% from the due date till the date of actual payment as a penalty imposed on the agency that has hired and is managing this staff of sanitation workers.
2. A formal enquiry and investigation to identify the main culprit in the lapse of sanitation services of the Library premises and the timely payment of salaries to the workers.
3. Calling the Library Administration to immediate action to set right the situation or tender their resignation on grounds of inability to perform their duties.
Eagerly looking forward to your support and prompt action in helping us meet justice at the earliest.
