Due to the recent resignation of NYWD Director, Gretchen Flohr, the Division 4 seat is now available. We encourage you to support the appointment of Marieke Furnee to the NYWD Board. Here’s a letter of her qualifications:

Hello NYWD Community:

I’m Marieke Furnee. My family and I live in Oregon House. We’ve lived here for 25 years.

I seek an appointment to the NYWD Division 4 seat that represents many irrigation customers. I’ve attended many NYWD meetings for the last 12 years and I’m deeply immersed in the many issues. I believe that I’m very qualified and want NYWD to work for the people.

As your NYWD Director, I will:

Work hard to fairly represent the needs of both irrigation and domestic customers;

Refuse to support any additional sales of water that are currently under consideration;

Commit to irrigation customers receiving water for their livelihoods and for fire protection;

Support the Forbestown Ditch repair offer of only $250K and not a $15M pipeline;

Do the work required to keep NYWD transparent and accountable.
