In the recent years, Bayou Blue neighborhoods and streets in Lafourche Parish District 5 are flooding. Rain events leave streets and ditches flooded for days because the sole drainage canal leading out to the intercostal waterway, the Hollywood Canal, is at the mercy of gravity drainage, surge and south winds pushing water into and filling the reservoir we rely on for our neighborhood gravity drainage needs.

Several communities north of Bayou Blue also drain runoff into the canal, some even through forced drainage systems which when combined with a South wind and surge from the south causes standing water with no where for our community gravity drainage to run off to. This backs up into the street ditches, streets, yards and causes sewer systems to malfunction, backing up into homes.  A few homes that recently started flooding have been lifted through FEMA projects but the end of every street along LA316 is starting to see water up to the slabs/doors and it's slowly creeping further and further up the streets.

Please consider dredging this gravity drained canal and stacking the dredged material on the house side of the canal to provide a solution to the residents who can not get relief following routine rain storms that flood the areas for days at a time, affecting personal property, health and quality of life along the canal, now traveling up the streets.
