It is estimated that 1.2 million Californians are in need of Internet connection during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic (Linda Darling-Hammond, State Board of Education president).  The company of Google is providing WiFi hotspots to areas in need, but we need more than 100,000 considering the level of need the citizens of this state exhibit.  Creating WiFi hotspots in California will ensure that students as well as adults can complete their online schooling or work during the pandemic.  Many families cannot afford to pay for Internet connections in their homes, much less groceries or other necessities.  We need to act now to help Californians in need because without the Google hotspots, many are left without ability to access the Internet.
