Why we should care about the Colonial/ Federalist Corridor: Since the mid 1700's to present, the Colonial Corridor has had several buildings come and go, but what has been standard is the colonial/ federalist style architecture. Almost 30+/- years have gone by now since Chesterfield sealed, with the public, the mile stretch architectural criteria. Now with the Centennial Celebration of the "Old" Courthouse of 1917 cornerstone being laid, in the midst, a controversy is growing. The problem of Case: 18SN0519 – Teri C. Pruitt and W. S. Carnes, Inc. ( & Case 18SN0520 – TowneBank) is that the person and companies are asking for an exemption to this criteria on 6-9 acres fronting Iron Bridge Road - Starting 400ft from the "OLD" Courthouse Steps. WHY, because one primary reason is developers hate the cost of colonial/ federalist style. Plus new companies don't want to bend to standards that will cost them more upfront. This is the land across from Commons Plz Shopping Center on Route 10.
