National research shows that LGBT youth are overrepresented among incarcerated youth across the country. Moreover, they are seven times more likely to be raped by other prisoners while incarcerated. We need services, not more prison cells!

More prison beds for a juvenile prison doesn't make us safer. Invest in education and healthcare not jailing more youth.

We need to invest in prevention not incarceration. Research shows it produces worse outcomes for youth than alternatives that incorporate positive youth development.

The gulf coast should be a community safe for all, but we can't build community if mass incarceration continues to be a major business venture and increasingly affect the next generation.
