Nearly every women, regardless of race, financial status, culture, religion, or socioeconomic status experience a period each month. While for some, buying tampons and pads is just another thing you do each month, others face the struggle of choosing to either buy these products with the limited money they have, or find another way to manage their menstrual cycle that may be dangerous for their health. Often times these women do not have access to proper menstrual products and resort to using makeshift and unsafe products to manage their biological conditions in which they have no control over. Women experiencing homelessness are more likely to extend the amount of time they use hygiene products which leads to infections and serious health risks. The FDA describes menstrual instruments as medical devices, yet there is limited support in ensuring every women using them has the ability to use this equipment safely.
This petition seeks to raise awareness of this public health issue and to assist in the efforts to introduce legislation that provides free menstrual health to women in need. Help us in raising awareness around this issue by signing and sharing today!
