Lotts Creek Community School needs a new roof. Lotts Creek is one of the oldest settlement schools (Est. 1934) left in Eastern, KY. The school educates over 300 children K-12 with a graduation diploma, most going to college on scholarship. Lotts Creek is located in the rugged Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky. It is a privately funded school (structure, electricity, gas) but the teachers are provided by Knott County Board of Education.
The school has seen hard times but has always remained a constant source of education, clothing, food, housing needs and support to the mountain folk of Eastern KY. The school has been told they need to repair the roof by 2/1/2018 or Knott County will shut down the school. The roof in the gym collapsed in August of last year. The gym and cafeteria are non functioning. Mrs. Alice Whitaker, Director has had a hard time getting the insurance to cover the cost. The original construction company did poor work and will not fix the roof. We could really use your help to Knott County Board of Education has the power to keep the school open while repairs are made. Please help us keep the school open while funding and repairs are complete. The children are in tears, parents anxious and the community nervous. We cannot let the children down.
