Why this petition matters

"I'm pregnant, and I can't take a single step outside of my house without feeling dizzy in this air. I am worried about being able to breathe, and I'm worried about my baby."

Canberra is choking - the air quality is the worst of any major city in the world, and there is smoke in both our houses and our lungs. There are no more P2 masks in stock in Canberra to even buy that will help protect against the hazardous air, and Australia Post has also ceased it's operations to Canberra to protect the health of it's workers.

Mali is trying to help, but she needs your support.

That's why we need to bring over stock for our community here as soon as possible - and why volunteers in Brisbane have generously gathered hundreds of masks, fronting the costs themselves, but now we need your help in bringing them over.

Mali Hermans is an ANU student who is flying from Brisbane to Sydney early tomorrow morning, on January 3rd before she buses up to Canberra. However, Jetstar's current system does not allow for more than one extra 25kg baggage to be purchased, which will not be enough to bring all the masks - we need a few more suitcases, that we're also happy to pay for. We simply need this flexibility in what is an emerging crisis.

Help us ask Jetstar to do the right thing with us - to help our community breathe in this hazardous air, especially those that are struggling in it the most.
