Why this petition matters
Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) children need to go back to school and attend in person to maximize their learning potential. They need the interaction with teachers and peers and a qualified instructor teaching. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children begin school this fall. The structure, normalcy and the ability to learn by doing will help kids to achieve their educational potential. The social, emotional and learning opportunities for our children far outweigh the safety issues associated with the virus.
With proper safety protocols in place (such as hand washing each hour and mask wearing), schools can find creative ways to manage and excel at an in learning experience. It is a necessary for all parents. Working parents, single parents, and stay at home parents have all done their part and sacrificed this past spring. This cannot happen again. Working parents and single parents are economically disadvantaged as they are once again being asked to do their professional job as well as that of supervising, overseeing and often instructing their children. This is not feasible. Also, many parents must return to their physical place of employment. Now is the time for the school system to step up to the challenge and go back to doing what they do best-----educating our kids!
