Teach Students About Sexual Harassment at a Younger Age

There have been cases of sexual harassment and assault among students as young as eight, but in many American schools, students aren’t taught about sexual harassment until middle school. Because people learn faster and better when they’re younger, early to mid elementary school is the perfect time for kids to learn about sexual harassment. Our society has the irrational fear that if we teach kids about sex, they will have sex. However, sexual harassment may be very present in a child’s early life. They need to learn early on what sexual harassment is, why it isn’t okay, and what to do if anyone ever sexually harasses them. If you agree that waiting to teach kids about sexual harassment is unfair, sign this petition.
