Stage IV lung cancer patient needs compassionate release from California prison

I have been pen pals with Geraldine Kelley Darden (W81216) for 19 years while she has been serving a life sentence in the Central California Women's Facility (CCWF). She has had breast cancer twice while incarcerated and now has incurable stage IV lung cancer and wishes to obtain a compassionate release to spend her final days with her family, including four children, a brother and other close relatives.
I have seen Geraldine go from an angry & anxious young woman to the calm, loving person who reaches out to other incarcerated women in friendship and support. She recently graduated with an AA degree and has developed a deep inner life which she shares with me through her thoughtful and intelligent letters.
I strongly believe she has earned the right to spend her last days or months with loved ones and I also look forward to spending some quality time with her when she gets out.
Thank you and sincerely,
