It's time we Americans and the world begin to recognize the oppression and brutal acts against Native Americans throughout our 'glorious' rising as a nation.

Church or not- past to present every individual living on this earth deserves to be treated and respected as that person. It is not right to praise one for evil done to another

I don't believe that a person who is responsible for the oppression, torture and the killing of the natives of California should be seen and celebrated as a hero

As a former Californian who voted for Pat Brown and for his Jesuit-trained son, I think the future canonization obfuscates the real meaning of Sainthood in the Church.

My mother is Catholic and I'm still having problems w/ these people/church. Very controlling. Evil. My Father's parents were both mixed Native American and European. But am amazed, even though I am very intelligent etc. how this group has used their resources time and again to negatively influence my life. As a group they think they're wonderful and that 'help' is needed. They believe their own lies. It.s hard to get past that kind of ignorance. there are serious blinders on.

It's time to stop belief this kind of behavior is acceptable or was acceptable toward native peoples/cultures . This does NOT lead to a greater good, nor was it necessary. The present is a good time to remind all people chritianity is not superior nor are it's followers, and time for them to step back. Consider past transgressions, learn and avoid present transgressions. And in the spirit of their beliefs ask for forgiveness from their god. Maybe the world could benefit from Christians acknowledging their own conceit and guilt toward real change.
