I went on and saw that this petition died about two years ago but I think right now is a great a time as any to make this petition come alive again. Below is something I've quoted from another petitioner.

When you go out to find a place you find that you need to commonly make more than triple what rent is. Most people in southern California have to get roommates or have a substantial income. It's also common for landlords to get away with to much. We need a better hold on rental agreements that regulate landlords better and rent needs to be way lower in southern California. Even if the minimum wage was raised to 15 an hour still rent would be near impossible to pay along with other bills. When I was younger I was told the golden rule to paying bills was rent was only supposed to be 30% of what you make. Most of the time it's gonna be 70% or 80% of what you make. Let's stop this and ask for lowering rent and rental regulations now.
