As of June 9th, 2016, those who have been smoking cigarettes since 18 years of age can no longer purchase tobacco products until they are 21. While we understand the health risks and effects it has on our life, taking away a privilege like this is unfair and not the action of a "Free Country". This decision was not even on a formal voting ballot for the citizens to get a chance to decide. Smokers already pay more when it comes to Health Insurance, so why did we not get any say in this matter?  As someone who was just finally able to purchase cigarettes in February, it is really disappointing and frustrating that my country can revoke my privileges in an act of an "ex post facto law". All I am asking is that those who were already of legal age to purchase cigarettes before June 9th be allowed to continue to purchase cigarettes. This is the only fair and just way to go about a law that the people were not even involved in the decision making.
