Jeremy Hunt lower the threshold of viability of premature babies from 24 weeks to 23 weeks
This petition had 8,670 supporters
In the UK the current viability rate of a premature baby is 24 weeks. Technology, medication and medical staff who give younger babies a fighting chance has proved with statistics that babies under 24 weeks can be viable and the postcode lottery of which babies given a chance needs to stop. We are asking for the legal viability age to be lowered to 23 weeks and for 22 week gestation babies to be treated at discretion of medical staff.
No Parent deserves to watch their child born with signs of breathing and no medical intervention. Other countries have lowered the viability rate to 22 weeks and we in Great Britain have the medical staff, equipment and medication to do the same.
Please sign and share our petition and help save not just premature babies but families who never get over the heartache of watching their child pass away without intervention.
