There are currently no government guidelines for follow up care in regards of children and young people who find themselves in a Mental Health Crisis. If a Child or young person self harms or tries to end their life, there are no government guidelines in place to offer them any form of after care and support. These children have reached that level of crisis for a reason and need help and support to help them through it. For a child or young person to reach this level of crisis they have already been failed by the system but not following up to ensure the crisis never happens again is ridiculous. These children and young people are extremely vulnerable and they deserve the care and support. Failing to provide the follow up care is likely to lead to another attempt on their life or a lifetime of mental health issues.
