University students with single parents to receive more student finance

As an art student going into my second year, It has occurred to me that students with single parents do not recieve as much student loan compared to those who have both parents or have parents who own their own businesses. One of my very close friends does not receive enough money to pay the rent, buy essentials such as food, buy art equipment and live a secure university life as her mum is a single parent. Personally, I believe that everyone is entitled to enough money so they can happily study, it does not matter if your parents are married or not. We need to give these students a chance to apply for a bursary to give them that extra bit of help and have enough student loan to last them the whole year. This change will impact so many young people such as my friend when studying any degree and make them feel more comfortable within university, even when buying equipment, especially as an art degree is one of the most expensive. We want them to be able to pay the rent and have enough left over to keep the going till the next loan drops.
