Theresa May has called the 2017 General Election in order to dilute parliamentary opposition to her plan for a hard Brexit. She asks us to unite as a nation and place trust in her as a leader, yet undermines the very democratic processes that bind us together.
This petition does not hope to help Labour win power as head of a progressive coalition, but rather aims to encourage opposition parties to work together to reduce the damage to our democracy caused by this Conservative power grab.
Progressive politicians from all parties must 'get out of their tribal huddles' and forge a new centrist home for voters who are 'desperately worried' about the direction Theresa May is taking the country in the wake of the Brexit vote, Paddy Ashdown has urged. – Rowena Mason, Guardian.
The referendum did not give the government a mandate to pursue Brexit at all costs. Please sign this petition if you want to see opposition parties working together tactically to maintain a strong opposition to government in Parliament.
There isn’t time to organise a formal progressive alliance... We have to do what we can in the time available. We need to re-energise people about the importance of voting tactically. – Gina Miller
