Alan Victor started this petition to Jeremy Corbyn (Leader of Labour Party) and

The current government, led by Theresa May MP, has completely failed to act in the interest of the nation because of the way in which it has responded to the result of the EU referendum which was held in 2016.

1) The government failed to properly assess the implications of leaving the EU and make proper preparations to define the specific outcomes that were to be achieved and the series of actions required to deliver those outcomes.

2) The government failed to present such an assessment to Parliament to seek its approval of the course of action to be followed and instead recklessly pushed ahead with notifying the intention to leave the EU, initially without even seeking Parliament's agreement and only presented a bill to do so as a result of a judicial instruction.

3) The government failed to negotiate a deal with the EU that would be supported by a majority in Parliament or indeed in the general electorate and stubbornly refused to recognise this opinion and instead repeatedly used channels of communication to push an unproved assertion that "the people" want the government to get on with delivering Brexit (which couldn't be proved unless the specific details, actions and outcomes were presented to the people for their confirmation.)

4) The government continues to push a deal which is unwanted and uses the threat of leaving the EU with no deal as a deliberate strategy of intimidation to push the vast majority of MPs towards voting for the deal. The preparations for no deal that are required to give credence to this approach are either a massive waste of government resources or truly indicate that the government is actually prepared to exit the EU without a deal and will do so if the deal is not passed. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!

5) The government has failed to take proper account of irregularities in the EU referendum campaigns regarding illegal overspending, inappropriate targeted advertising and the possibility of foreign interference and funding. All preparations for exiting the EU should have been placed on hold while a public enquiry was held and the recommendations acted upon.

Each of these failings show that the government is incompetent and should be removed as soon as possible so that appropriate actions can be taken to recover from the precarious situation the country has been placed in.

A vote of no confidence should be followed immediately by instructions to extend or revoke the Article 50 negotiation so that a proper assessment and consensus can be built to take appropriate action in the TRUE INTERESTS OF THIS NATION.
