Mark the tragic loss of life in the Grenfell Tower with a National Day of Mourning

As a country we need to stop and take stock. How is it possible that as a society we have allowed such a tragedy to happen? During the election there were two terrorist attacks and the politicians suspended their campaigns. Now it is time for ordinary people, with the support of their employers, to pause and reflect.
On this National Day of Mourning, we will take time to:
a) remember the people who have died, and those whose lives will never be the same because of this terrible suffering and loss
b) reach out to each other - work to rebuild our broken communities
c) listen to the voices of those who feel marginalised
d) develop a sense of national purpose to overcome inequalities
United in the common good, we must reconnect with each other, and strive towards collectively finding ways to cater for people's basic human needs, and specifically the housing needs of all in our society.
