Petition update

We did it! The Governor released the funds!

Kansas City Public Library

Apr 3, 2015 — We did it! The pressure we put on the Governor worked and today he's announced the release of the $6 million he was withholding!

Congratulations to everyone involved in this campaign! It would not have been possible without all of you who contacted your legislators, showed up at the rally, signed the petitions, and talked with friends and patrons about the issue. Libraries and librarians are a powerful force for good in our communities and we deserve full funding! There has been an especially giant outpouring of leadership from the rural communities and without them there is no way this could have happened. Good job to all of you!

This is a major victory but the campaign isn't quite over! The Senate Appropriations Committee is still meeting to discuss next fiscal year's budget so if you haven't contacted them yet, contact them now! There contact info is available on the petition site. We'll have more updates coming but we wanted to let everyone know ASAP about the funding release. Let's show our politicians how much community support libraries have and that we won't allow them to remove our funding!

Well done, Missourians!
