Save the Maroches Bakery Mural

Dallas people—this local business and local art piece need your help!
Maroches Bakery is under pressure from the Landmark Commission who has determined that the mural titled "The Energy of Happiness" by Venezuelan artist Alejandra Camargo must be painted over because the bakery did not apply for a "Certificate of Appropriateness". This pressure is coming after a complaint raised by the historic neighborhood association that includes the bakery.
The owner has cooperated by painting over what is considered to be the portion of the mural that covers the front of the building. "The Energy of Happiness" has been a part of the Oak Cliff community for a year now, and the community asks to know what steps need to be taken to preserve it. Anyone from here knows there are murals on buildings all up and down Davis, 7th, and 8th.
We are asking for as many people as possible to support Maroches Bakery and the preservation of what is left of the mural by:

- If able, attend the Landmark Commission Meeting being held at Dallas City Hall on March 5th, Monday at 1pm (1500 Marilla St. Council Chambers, 6th Floor)
