As members of Jarrow CLP we are dismayed by the process undertaken to select our parliamentary candidate. A wide number of local, experienced members including senior local councillors applied to be considered and none were interviewed. Jeremy Corbyn and the Momentum NEC representatives were elected promising a ‘member-led Party’ but in fact they’ve presided over the ruthless imposition of a highly controversial outside candidate with no regard for the views of local members. 
We resolve to do what is necessary now and in the future to ensure our party is democratic and supports women in public life to participate fully without fear of abuse or violence.
